Hurricane Harvey and Casa Juan Diego

October 7,2017

Harvey Needs
Each day there has been a long line of people coming in for help after Harvey. It is nonstop for as long as we keep receiving people. In these conversations some hair raising stories come out.

Food:

Food needs:

We need rice. Many people are still without food, especially the undocumented. When we give a bag or box of food, we are sure to put at least rice and beans along with whatever vegetables or other things we have to give. At the moment we have beans, but are short of rice.

If you have grocery bags or boxes, they would be much appreciated to help us assemble food donations.

Tuna and canned meat, pasta, tomato sauce, bread, sugar, cooking oil, mayonnaise, Similac baby formula (Blue).

Adult Diapers and Underpads are Needed

Beds Needed
So many have lost their beds in the floods. Even if you are far away, perhaps you might consider one of the following from Amazon to have it shipped to our main location at 4818 Rose, Houston, TX 77007:

Rollaway single bed ($189.99)

Volunteers are needed during the day to bag beans and rice and maseca and to help distribute to those in need. We are very grateful for the many who have helped so far.

Other volunteers have come to help fix air conditioning when it goes out and the regular volunteers drive our truck for food pickups and preparing for distribution. There are repairs always going on.  In the meantime, we have our many guests to consider and care for. We feel a bit like being in the midst of a maelstrom.

Financial donations  can be sent to P.O. Box 70113, Houston, TX 77270 – or donate here on our web site on the main page.
